Lindi Matokeo ya darasa la saba 2025 - PSLE-2024/2025 EXAMINATION RESULTS, MKOA WA LINDI

In 1961 when Tanganyika gained its independence from the British the Lindi Region was completely absent from the map. At the time was the Southern Province which included the present Lindi Mtwara and Ruvuma Regions. The Southern State Headquarters was in Lindi City.

The status of Lindi City as Headquarters ended shortly after Independence where the Southern Province became known as Mtwara Region. The headquarters became Mtwara City. Probably Mtwara Region was so large in the area that even the first Mtwara Regional Commissioner Mr. John Nzunda was saying: "I control a piece of land from the Indian Ocean Coast to Lake Nyasa and from the Ruvuma River to near the Rufiji River."

The first phase government led by Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere divided Mtwara Region in the early years of Independence where there were Mtwara and Ruvuma Regions. This division made Lindi into Mtwara.

On July 1, 1971, Lindi Region was officially established after the division of Mtwara Region. The Regional Headquarters became Lindi Town. As Tanzania celebrates 10 Years of Continental Independence by inviting the British to come and see the action that hit the Region it was only 6 months old. The Location Of Lindi Region

Lindi Region is bordered by the Indian Ocean on the East, Coast Region on the North, Morogoro and Ruvuma on the West and Mtwara Region on the South.

The region has an area of ​​67,000 square kilometers which is equivalent to 7.1 percent of the area of ​​mainland Tanzania. However about 27% of the Region's area lies below the Selous Game Reserve which is located in the western part of Liwale District
