VETA Tanzania

VETA Tanzania

One of the main functions of VETA as stipulated in the VET Act No.1 of 1994, is to establish a flexible Vocational Education and Training System which is capable of responding quickly to the needs and demands of the Labour Market in both the Formal and Informal sectors of the economy.

VETA - The Vocational Education and Training Authority

VETA has a potential role alone and also in with other stakeholders, to fight against unemployment by providing and facilitating employable skills in accordance with prevailing Labour Market needs.

The Vocational Education and Training Authority, VETA, envisages close coordination and co-operation with all stakeholders in the field of vocational education and training.  This includes, amongst others, co-ordinating of all training activities geared towards work opportunities in the informal sector. Today, skills provision for the informal sector receives an increasing attention in VETA’s vocational training strategy as by far the majority of the employment seekers from the VET system will/continue to be engaged in its various activities.

Through provision of demand based skills vocational trainees will be able to acquire appropriate and marketable skills which will eventually enable them to participate in economic activities.
