Ardhi University (ARU) is a public academic institution established under the Ardhi University Charter of 2007. Currently, ARU is a unique institution, being the only one of its kind in Tanzania and in Africa so far offering integrated training and conducting research in the various matters related to land, the built environment, social-economic as well as other environmental related disciplines under one roof. Apart from the land and environmental related disciplines, ARU also offers undergraduate training in areas of Economics; Community and Development Studies; Information Systems Management; Computer Systems and Networks, Civil Engineering; Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing; Accounting and Finance as well as Real Estates, Finance and Investments.
All these are offered in twenty-two (22) undergraduate programmes currently running at Ardhi University. In this regard, Ardhi University is a place where careers are nurtured and high-profile graduates are produced each year. Our graduates are introduced to practical training through in-semester fieldworks, industrial trainings and project works throughout their academic life at the University. This approach does not only impart them with practical knowledge and skills, but also facilitate easy link and access to the labor market upon graduating.

Ardhi University (ARU) Programmes & Admission Requirements

Bachelor of Architecture
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Geography or Fine Art at  grade ‘D’ or above. In addition, an  applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level and a minimum of “D” grade in Physics at O-Level.
  • Diploma or Full  Technician Certificate  (FTC)  in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil  Engineering, or Civil  and Transportation Engineering with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0 
Bachelor of  Science in Interior Design
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Advanced  Mathematics, Geography or Fine Art. In addition, an applicant must have at least  a  subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level.
  • Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in  Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil  Engineering or Civil and Transportation Engineering with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Advanced Mathematics, Geography or Fine Art. In addition, an applicant must have at  least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level.
  • Diploma or Full Technician  Certificate  (FTC)  Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil  Engineering or Civil and Transportation Engineering with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0
Bachelor of Science in Geomatics
  • Two principal passes in Advanced Mathematics and either Physics, Geography, Chemistry or Computer Science. In case the second principal level pass is not Physics, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Physics at A-Level.
  • Diploma or Full Technician  Certificate (FTC) in Geomatics, Land Surveying, Cartography, Computer Science, Mining Survey, Civil  Engineering, Civil  and Transportation Engineering, or Irrigation Engineering with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of  3.0. In  addition, an applicant must have a minimum of  “D” grade in Mathematics at O-Level.
Bachelor of  Science in Environmental Engineering
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Advanced Mathematics, Chemistry or Biology. If the two principal passes are not Advanced Mathematics and Physics, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Physics and Advanced Mathematics /Basic Applied Mathematics at A-Level.
  • Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Water Supply and Sanitation Engineering, Environmental Health Science, Hydrogeology & Well Drilling, Hydrology & Meteorology, Water Laboratory Technology, Irrigation Engineering, Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering with an average of  “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Management
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Advanced Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Geography. One of  the two principal passes must be in Physics or Chemistry or Biology. In addition, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level.
  • Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Water Supply and Sanitation Engineering, Environmental Health Science, Hydrogeology & Well  Drilling, Hydrology & Meteorology, Water Laboratory Technology, Irrigation Engineering, Civil  Engineering or Water Resources Engineering with an average of  “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Bachelor of  Science in Housing and Infrastructure Planning
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Advanced  Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Commerce or Accountancy. In addition, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary level pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level or at least a “D” grade in Mathematics at O-Level.
  • Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Civil  and  Transportation Engineering, Civil  Engineering with Community Development, Water Supply and Sanitation Engineering, Cartography or Urban and Regional Planning  with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0
Bachelor of Science in Land Management and Valuation
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Geography, Economics, Advanced Mathematics, History, English Literature, Commerce, Accountancy, Physics,  Biology or Chemistry. In addition, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level or at least a  ‘C’ grade  in Mathematics and a “D” grade in English Language at O-Level.
  • Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Land Management and Valuation, Land Use Planning or Land Resources Management with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0
Bachelor of  Science in Municipal and Industrial  Services Engineering
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Advanced Mathematics, Chemistry or Biology. One of the two principal level passes must be in Physics or Chemistry or Biology. In addition, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in  Advanced Mathematics at A-Level.
  • Diploma or Full Technician  Certificate  (FTC) in Water Supply and Sanitation Engineering, Environmental Health Science, Hydrogeology & Well  Drilling, Hydrology & Meteorology, Water Laboratory Technology, Irrigation Engineering, Civil  Engineering or Water  Resources Engineering with an average of  “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Bachelor of Science in Property and Facility Management 
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Geography, Economics,  Advanced  Mathematics, History, English Literature, Commerce, Accountancy, Physics, Biology or  Chemistry. In addition, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Advanced  Mathematics at  A-Level  or  at  least  a  ‘C’  grade  in Mathematics and a ‘D’ grade in English Language at O-Level.
Bachelor of Science in Regional Development Planning
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Advanced  Mathematics, Geography,  Economics, Commerce or Accountancy. In addition, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level or at least a “D” grade in Mathematics at O-Level.
Bachelor of  Science in Real Estate, Finance and Investment    
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Commerce, Accountancy, Economics, History, Geography, Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Biology or Chemistry.  In  addition, an applicant  must have a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics and English Language at A-Level or at least a “D” grade in English Language/ English Literature and Mathematics at O-Level.
Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology,  Advanced  Mathematics,  Geography,  Economics, Commerce or Accountancy. In addition, an applicant must have at a least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level or at least “D” grade in Mathematics at O-Level.
Bachelor of Arts in Economics
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Advanced Mathematics, Economics, Geography, History, Commerce or Accountancy. One of the  principal passes must be Economics. In addition, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level or at least “D” grade in Mathematics at O-Level.
Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Advanced Mathematics, Computer Science/ICT, Physics, Geography, Biology, Chemistry  or  Economics. In addition, an  applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level  or credit pass in Basic Mathematics at O-Level.
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Two pprincipal passes in Advanced Mathematics and Physics. Those without at least a subsidiary in Chemistry must have a Credit pass in Chemistry at O-Level.
Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Commerce, Accountancy, Economics, History, Geography, Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Biology or Chemistry. In  addition, an applicant must have a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics and English Language at A-Level or at least a “D” grade in English Language/English Literature and Mathematics at O-Level.
Bachelor of Arts in Community Development
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology,  Advanced  Mathematics,  Geography,  Economics,  History, Kiswahili,  English  Language,  Commerce,  Accountancy,  Agriculture or  Nutrition.  In  addition,  an  applicant  must  have  at  least  a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level or at least “D” grade in Mathematics at O-Level.
Bachelor of Science in Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Computer Science, Biology, Economics or Agriculture. In addition,  an applicant must have at least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level or at least a ‘C’ grade at O-Level.
Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying and Construction
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Accountancy. In addition, an applicant must have at least a  subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level and at least a “D” grade in Physics at O-Level.
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Laboratory Science and Technology
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Advanced Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Geography. One of  the two principal passes must be Physics or  Chemistry or Biology. In addition, an applicant must have at least a Subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics and Physics at A-Level
Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems and Networks
  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Economics or Computer Science. In addition, a candidate must have at least a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics at A-Level or a minimum of “C” grade in Basic Mathematics at O-Level.
