Singida Region is located in the heart of mainland Tanzania. Its capital is Singida and is an important crossroads for road transport to the North, West, South and East.
Singida borders Manyara Region to the North, Dodoma Region to the East, Mbeya and Iringa Regions to the South and Tabora and Simiyu Regions to the West. Singida Region was officially established on October 15, 1963 which was previously the Central Province of Dodoma.

Economic activities in Singida Region include agriculture which employs an average of 86% of the total population. The main crops for food are millet, sorghum, cassava and sweet potatoes and for commercial crops are sunflower, onion, cotton and sesame. Other productive activities are livestock, small-scale mining, small-scale manufacturing and trade.
Interms of climate, Singida Region receives rainfall over a period of one year (November to April) at an average of 500 - 800 mm per year and the average temperature is 15 - 30 degrees depending on the season and soil elevation. Due to the climate, Singida Region is one of the regions with the lowest rainfall
